“The church is God’s temple in which He dwells and around it the world of wickedness.” (The People’s New Testament Commentary)
“In this present world,” God is calling His people to“live soberly, righteously, and godly.”
You have a duty to “live soberly” (in relation to yourself)…“live righteously” (in relation to your neighbor)…and “live godly” (in relation to God) in a “world” that is void of life and sense…wholly set upon wickedness…in the sphere of dark influences …and under the dominion of Satan.
The Biblical Illustrator asks you – “Is this a good time for a sober, righteous, and godly life?”
