“LOOKING UNTO JESUS…”
The writer of Hebrews teaches the believer that he must look away from all else to JESUS only.
John Trapp said in his commentary – “Saints have a single eye, an eye of adamant which will turn only to one point, to Christ alone.”
“LOOKING UNTO JESUS” supplies the strong motive and furnishes all the needful strength for running the Christian race well.
Mere professors keep looking entirely at themselves. Hypocrites dare not look unto Jesus. Backsliders temporarily have ceased to look upon Him.
However, the believer looks unto JESUS with a loving and longing look.
The Biblical Illustrator made this statement – “There is no other object worthy of our gaze, no other fitted to fill our souls.”
