Just Keep Walking & You Will Soon Arrive At Your Wealthy Place

"God is an all-sufficient support. He is equal to all our emergencies. 'He is our refuge and strength,' etc. There is no enemy from which He cannot deliver us; there is no trial under which He cannot support us; there is no danger from which He cannot rescue us. In the fiery furnace, in the surging waters, in the 'valley of the shadow of death,' He is all-sufficient." - Biblical Illustrator - Old Testament

There is an universal law of human life. What is it? It is walking. Life is a walk...a journey...and a constant motion onward. It is never stationary, but it is always on the move. It involves a change of motion as well as a change of position.

Psalm 138:7 says - "Though I walk in the midst of trouble, Thou wilt revive me..."
Psalm 66:12
says - "Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but Thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place."
Isaiah 43:2
says - "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee."

In the Scriptures above, we observe that - in our daily walk - we encounter some very unpleasant circumstances. In other words, life is not full of unending amusement and pleasure. On the contrary, it is full of "trouble" which is typified by "fire," "water," "rivers," or "the flame."

"Though I walk in the midst of trouble" - Not if "I walk..." but "though I walk." Let's settle it right now as Christians - we are going to "walk in the midst of trouble." We can expect it. There is nothing that we can do to stop it either. We can confess the Word until we are blue in the face, and it will not change the fact that - at different seasons of time - we will "walk in the midst of trouble." No matter how close we draw to the Lord, how many Scriptures we memorize, or how long and often we fast and pray - we cannot and will not change what the Word says here.

God allows us to go through "troubles" for a Divine purpose. Notice, in Psalm 66:12, Who is "causing" the "trouble." It is the Lord God Himself - "Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads..." He "caused" it, and after it accomplishes its purpose, He then brings us out.

Each of the given Scriptures reflect motion when facing adversity and affliction - "Though I walk in the midst of trouble..." "we went through fire and through water..." "When thou passest through the waters...and through the rivers...when thou walkest through the fire..." There is no indication given of a period of permanence or duration.

Hence, the devil is proven once again - by the Word of God - to be the liar that he is. In the midst of "trouble," what is it that he constantly tells people? He says things like this - "You are never getting out of this situation...You'll never change... You might as well face it - this is the way things will be from this time forth...you'll never be well... You'll never prosper or get out of debt...you'll never be happy again...you'll never get your miracle, etc."

But - as you can see - He is a Boldfaced liar!

The Word of God assures you that you are - "walking" "in the midst of trouble"...going "through fire and ...water"..."passing through the waters...and through the rivers"...and "walking through the fire."

In other words, you are going somewhere. God has an objective in mind. Your trial has a beginning and an end. There is light at the end of your tunnel. You may not see it at this point in time, but it is coming.

It is important to note that "fire" and "water" in the Scriptures were often used to denote calamities, afflictions, hardships, difficulties, and perils of the most extreme character - those which were torturous and overwhelming in nature. "Waters" and "rivers" were likewise used to denote afflictions, overpowering trials, and the greatest of difficulties and dangers. "Men riding over our heads" is simply described as men using us like slaves or treating us like the mire of the street.

Though we face these low valleys of sorrow, heartache, suffering, and pain - the Scriptures offer us hope. Let's read the verses again to see wherein our comfort lies.

Though you are presently "walking in the midst of" the worst spiritual storm you have ever faced in your entire life, God promises to keep you alive. Though you are passing through overwhelming trials and frightful difficulties, God's promise to you is - "I will be with thee..."  The same God Who "caused" men to oppress or persecute you also promised to bring you out. And as is always His way, He will not only bring you out of your horrible and frightful situation, but He promises to "revive" you - make you cheerful and easy - and also to bring you "into a wealthy place" - a place of refreshment...a large place...a well-watered place...and a place of overflowing abundance.

Yes, there will be times when you will be required to face low valleys of sorrow, heartache, and pain. Men will be allowed by God to oppress you. The devil will desire to "sift you as wheat"(Luke 22:31).

You may be facing such a time right now. Be encouraged! You are going somewhere.

Whatever you do, do not listen to the lies of the devil and give up! Don't set up camp "in the midst of trouble" and settle for oppression and affliction.

This is not God's intended destination for you. He has a "wealthy place" over the horizon with your name on it.

Keep "walking!" Keep going onward! Keep "passing through!"

The rapidity and force of the grievous and troublesome afflictions will "not overflow" or overwhelm you.

Remember - the Lord God of heaven and earth is with you.

And because He is - "the gates of hell shall not prevail..." (Matthew 16:18).

May God Bless His Word.
