Last night (Tuesday) six women inmates prayed a prayer of total surrender to Jesus. During the Bible Study, the Holy Spirit was speaking to two in particular about going all the way with Jesus. One inmate - with tears streaming down her face - said that God showed her that she cannot give 80% or even 90% - but it must be 100%. She once knew the Lord but backslid and that is why she is in jail today. Another inmate said the same. With tears streaming down her face, she said that the Lord spoke to her as well during the lesson - saying that her problem was that she wasn't giving Him 100%. The other four inmates agreed that they needed to do the same.
Please pray for these women - especially for the last one I mentioned above. Her name is Melissa. My heart broke as she related that she is a third time offender, just got out of prison this past March, and is back in jail again two months later. She cried as she shared how she tries so hard but cannot seem to break loose of the drugs and the drug lifestyle. It seems as though when these women get out, the devil is just waiting for them to take them back to that old lifestyle. But during the Bible Study, God gave Melissa and the others the key to their victory. They must sell out completely to Him. And that they did last night by faith.
I admonished them not to play games with God as so many are doing today. I told them that if they were going to be a Christian, then they must be an "on-fire" one - and not just a pew sitter who never does anything for Jesus.
The amazing thing is that these women inmates are catching the fires of the Holy Spirit. God is bringing revival into the jails. It is so awesome to see.
One inmate shared with me that on Monday night(Memorial Day) while the outside world was picnicking, the women inmates in that particular pod gathered together in the gym in a full circle - holding hands - and had a prayer meeting. They were planning to do the same Tuesday night after all the Preachers left.
Isn't this awesome? No one is telling these inmates to do this. The Spirit of God is stirring them to prayer. They are catching the fires of revival and seeing God move as a result.
When people start to pray like this, we all know that God is up to something - for everything He does begins in prayer!
