How Desperate Are You For The Power Of God in Your Life?

Do you long for a display of God's power in your life, ministry, or church? What price will you pay to see His glory manifested? How important is the Presence of Jesus to you?

David was separated in distance from the ark and the tabernacle - the place of worship. However, he was not separated in his heart for the Scriptures tell us that his "soul thirsteth" and his "flesh longeth"(Psalm 63:1) - to be in the place once again where the Presence of the Lord was manifested. The world - as a dry wilderness - offered him no true satisfaction. He could never forget the Mighty Influence of God's Awesome Presence on his soul and how it transformed his life.

In Psalm 63:1, he addressed the Almighty in this manner - "O God, Thou art my God..." He knew this Strong and Mighty One personally. He fellowshipped with Him and derived Great Strength from His Presence.

Therefore, David realized that he had no reason to ever fear the attacks of his enemies. God was His strength and His portion for ever, and he knew it. He lived and moved in that truth.

If the Lord were to look upon your life this day, in what way would He see that you are desperate for Him? How are you showing Him that your soul is thirsting and your flesh longing for His Presence?

Is He your One and only Source of Strength? Or do you have other resources - like your self, friends, family, church, job, or government - that you rely on?

Does your life exemplify the Power of God against your enemies as a result of your spending time in the His Presence on a daily basis? Do you display boldness and undaunted courage in the face of Satan -  knowing that Jesus is the Strength of your life? Or - in all honesty - are you afraid of the enemy and his demonic forces?

David knew that he needed the touch of God on his life every day. He was not nonchalant and complacent about it either. In Psalm 63:1, he declared - "...early will I seek Thee...in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is." Some commentaries explain his words as saying - "as a dry and thirsty land." In other words, he craved after God's Presence in his life "as a dry and thirsty land" would crave for the slightest drop of water.

Do you sense his absolute desperation here, O Saint of God?

What about you? Are you that desperate for God's Touch on your life? Do you run after Him with all that is within you? Do you purposely meet with Him even before the breaking of day? Is His face the first that you seek every morning?

David sought God because he wanted to know Him. He wanted to see His "power" and "glory." He knew - in turn - that he would be changed and transformed each time that he did.

There is a certain confidence that floods our souls every time that we come face to face with the Lord Jesus.

The Prophet Jeremiah described it this way - "But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible One; therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten"(Jeremiah 20:11).

After spending time in God's Presence, Jeremiah received a revelation of Him as a Terrible Warrior Who was well able to bring down his enemies. They would stumble...not prevail...not prosper...and be covered with shame and confusion. Why? Because of the Presence of the "Mighty Terrible One" Who fought for His servant.

We will gain the same confidence against our persecutors - if we will only spend time in His Presence.

Oh! How we need God's Power today. And we will only know it when we spend quality time in His Presence.

We need His Power for strength to repel the enemies that are set on our destruction. The Apostle Paul commanded us to - "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might"(Ephesians 6:10). We must realize that we cannot face our foes in our own strength. We need the strength of another - One greater than ourselves. It is only His strength that enables us to resist temptation and obtain the victory.

In Colossians 1:11, Paul prayed for the believers in Colosse that they would be - "Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power..." He knew that each and every Christian needed to be mightily strengthened by the Power of God in order to bear up under their various trials and tests of Faith.

How many today are falling away from the Faith because they lack spiritual strength? Rather than spending quality time in the Presence of Jesus - being endued with Power from on high - they are wasting their lives on frivolous pursuits or amusements and finding themselves weak and incompetent against the Powers of Darkness.

Oh! How we need the Power of God in our lives! Oh! Church, we can't do without it for one second!

There should be no weakness in any one of us. Nehemiah referred to the people of God as - "...these are Thy servants and Thy people, whom Thou hast redeemed by Thy great power, and by Thy strong hand"(Nehemiah 1:10).

The Prophet Isaiah decreed that we need never be afraid or dismayed because God's Presence is with us - "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness"(Isaiah 41:10).

This Mighty Fortress - Who is our God - is well able to handle our foes - "For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous"(Psalm 37:17).  Through the Awesome Presence of our God - Who sustains and strengthens us - we shall see the plans of our enemies fail.

Why do we need the Power of God in our lives? Because we cannot face our enemies in our own strength. We need God's Presence and Glory to overcome and outwit them.

The Apostle Peter described our crucial need in this manner - "Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation..."(1 Peter 1:5). Only God Almighty can guard us from spiritual and physical danger.

We need His Power for strength. We need it to be kept against the Powers of Darkness who will stop at nothing until they see our souls cast into Hell for all eternity.

One way to get this Power is to spend time in the Presence of Jesus.

If you haven't already noticed, Christianity is not a playground. It's not an Amusement Park filled with all kinds of silly, fun-toys and thrilling rides. It's not a sitcom intending to make us laugh all the time. It's not a movie theater filled with fiction stories that replace reality. It's a warfare for our souls.

The only thing that our enemy - Satan - understands is the Power and Glory of God. And He knows that it is all wrapped up in the Presence of the Living Son of God - the Lord Jesus Christ.

If we expect to endure unto the end, then we are going to have to pay the price to get the Presence of God in our lives, families, homes, ministries, and churches.  Otherwise we will never make it. We will be casualties on the Devil's Hit List.

After reading this message from the Word of God, how desperate are you now for the Presence of the Lord?
To what measure will you go to have it manifested in your life?

May God Bless His Word.
