Prepare The Way For The Breaker To Come Through

"Listen! I hear the voice of someone shouting, 'Make a road for the Lord through the wilderness; make Him a straight, smooth road through the desert. Fill the valleys; level the hills; straighten out the crooked paths and smooth off the rough spots in the road. The glory of the Lord will be seen by all mankind together.' The Lord has spoken - it shall be. " The Living Bible

There are two Prophets in the Bible who have a message for us today. They are Micah and Isaiah.

Micah introduces us to the "Breaker-Through" - none other than the Lord Jesus - and Isaiah tells us how we can get Him to deliver us - in and from our enemies.

Micah 2:13 says - "The breaker is come up before them, they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them."

"The breaker" and "king" of whom Micah is speaking in this verse is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Notice His place in this picture. He "is come up before them" and "shall pass before them." He is at the lead. He is the Head of the army or the march - leading His besieged ones in the way and out of their land of captivity.

It is at His Presence that the enemy flees...the gates of the prison burst forth to set the captives free...the hurdles are taken down...a gap is made in the wall or hedge of hindrance...the difficulties and opposition holding them back are removed...the road is cleared before them...and the door of escape out of their captivity is suddenly opened.

Oh! What a fantastic image of deliverance! What a powerful source of comfort for the people of God who are facing all sorts of difficulties, hindrances, and opposition in their lives this very day!

There is a "Breaker-Through"! His Name is Jesus! He will lead you out of your exile - so to speak - and bring you through the gates of your captivity. Like Samson, He will arise at your "midnight" hour and take "the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts," and walk away with them - "bar and all, and put them upon His shoulders, and carry them up to the top" of Mount Calvary where He won the Battle of all battles against Satan for your deliverance and mine(Judges 16:3).

However, the Prophet Isaiah informs us that there is a process required before this great deliverance can be experienced. We must prepare the way for the "Breaker-Through" to come and do His unusually wonderful and unprecedented work - "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert"(Isaiah 43:19)

In Isaiah 40:3, we discover our duty before God - "The voice of Him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God."

What the Prophet is implying is this - In order for us to encounter our God, we must prepare the way for Him. In other words, we must make ourselves ready for His coming.

We get a clearer understanding of what Isaiah is talking about when we delve into the history of the practice of the eastern monarchs. Whenever these rulers would prepare to take a journey - especially through a desert - they sent messengers beforehand to prepare the way. These servants would open passes, level ways, and remove all impediments. In other words, they would make a straight or direct road for their king to travel on.

If we desire for the "Breaker-Through" to come into our situation to work deliverance for us, then we must do the same.

Isaiah explains further - "Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain"(Isaiah 40:4).

A work of grace is in order. It must level the heart. All corrupt inclinations and secular interests must be suppressed. The life must be brought into total subjection to the Word of God. Self-confidence, pride, hypocrisy, religion, and all ungodly opinions, habits, and conduct must be removed.

It is then that the "Breaker-Through" will show up - "And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it"(Isaiah 40:5).

It is when the heart is leveled by Grace that the majesty, power, honor, and splendor of the Lord is seen. The "Breaker-Through" will come and you will break out triumphantly from your place of captivity. He will see to it!

Just how badly do you want this freedom from your enemies?
How desperate are you for the deliverance from all harassment, opposition, or bondage?

What you need is going to require more than a simple confession of Faith.

The way through your heart must be prepared for the coming of the "Breaker-Through." It must be a straight, smooth road. The "valleys" must be filled and the "hills" leveled. The "crooked paths" must be straightened and the "rough spots" made smooth.

Then - and only then - does God promise that you will see His "glory" manifested on your behalf.

There is a "voice" crying out to you today, saying - "Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God."

What will you do about it?

Will you respond by totally surrendering all to God and taste victory as a result, or simply go about your business and remain in your bondage?

May God Bless His Word.
