Are You Happy Today?

"Blessed are they that keep His testimonies, and that seek Him with the whole heart." - Psalm 119:2

The word "Blessed" used in this Scripture is another word for happy. It can be replaced with the interjection - Oh how happy! To be envied! How fortunate!

Certainly, everyone in this world is looking for happiness. Unfortunately, most are looking in all the wrong places. The world calls an individual "happy" if he has great wealth, a career, abundant possessions, and lives in pleasure on Easy Street. However, when examining the Scriptures, we find that God's view of happiness is diametrically opposed to that of this world.

Psalm 119:1 - God calls a man "happy" who is "undefiled" from the world -
2 Peter 1:4 - one who has "escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust"
Ephesians 2:2 - and is not "walking according to the course of this world" as a child of disobedience under the influence of "the prince of the power of the air."

Psalm 119:101 - He calls a man "happy" who restrains himself from "every evil way"
Psalm 119:3 - and does not sin.
Psalm 119:1 - He is walking as a doer of the Word, and not just a hearer.

Psalm 119:113 - He calls a man "happy" who both loves and hates. He loves God's Word. It is evidenced by his exuberant attitude. As he searches the Scriptures daily, he considers his finds as accumulating great riches.
Psalm 119:112 - He also has inclined his whole heart toward the commandments of the Lord in order to faithfully obey them.
Psalm 119:113 - On the other hand, he "hates vain thoughts,"
Psalm 119:128 - "every false way,"
Psalm 119:163 - and every form of deception or "lying" - which are all an affront to the Holy Bible.

Psalm 119:2 - Lastly, as the opening Scripture points us, God calls a man "happy" who obeys His commands and seeks Him with all his heart.

Are you happy today?
Why or why not?
Is your basis for happiness in accordance with God's thinking or the world's?

Ask yourself -
Am I keeping myself "undefiled" from the world?
"Having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust," am I renouncing and rebuking the evil influence and suggestions of "the prince of the power of the air" that is so evidenced through worldly TV shows, worldly music, and ungodly entertainment?
Am I keeping myself from every form of compromise and walking in daily victory over sin - in thought, word, and deed?

Am I daily studying the Bible and resolving in my heart to obey the commands outlined before me each day by the Holy Spirit?
Do I love His Word and consider myself so rich because of its great wealth to me?
Is my heart inclined toward the Bible - wanting so desperately to keep its every statute?

Do I hate vain thoughts, or am I a double minded person - not really convinced in my heart who I want to serve?
Do I hate every false way, and determine never to be dishonest or deceitful in my daily practices with God and men?

Am I obedient to the Lord's commands?
Am I seeking Him with all my heart - wanting so desperately to find Him?
Does He have all of my heart?

Psalm 144:15 says - "Happy is that people, that is in such a case..."

If you are not experiencing the joy and happiness that God affords, the Good News is that you can!

Psalm 144:15 continues on to say - "Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD."

Surrender your all to Jesus today.
Make Him the Lord of every kingdom of your heart.
He asks for one thing from all of us - "My son(daughter), give Me thine heart..."(Proverbs 23:26).

When the Lord Jesus has our heart, He has us.
When He has us, then we - in turn - receive His blessing.

Give Him your heart today and then it will be said of you -
"Oh How Happy...How Fortunate you really are!"

May God Bless His Word.
