What
A Glorious Sacrifice
There is no greater way to
bring glory to God and the Lord Jesus Christ than for all those
who have been saved to testify of His saving power.
Isaiah 53:11 says - "He shall see of
the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied: by His
knowledge shall My righteous servant justify many; for He shall
bear their iniquities."
God is speaking here of the glorious sacrifice of the Lord Jesus
Christ for the sins of mankind. No greater act of love was ever
demonstrated. No greater sacrifice was ever wrought. Jesus the
Suffering Servant became our Substitute. He suffered, bled, and
died that we might have life and have it more abundantly.
How we praise His
name for all that He has done for us!
"He shall see the travail of
His soul, and shall be satisfied" - In a
sense, what this Scripture is saying is that God looked upon the
sacrifice of Jesus as our substitutionary lamb and was well
pleased. He saw that - as a result of this holy sacrifice - so
much good would result. Such fruit would be wrought as a result
of this "corn of wheat"
falling into the ground and dying.
The word "travail"
has two different applications. It means labor with pain and
severe toil. It also carries the meaning of the pains of
childbirth. In this particular Scripture, it denotes excessive
toil, labor, and weariness and refers to the agony, vexation,
and exhaustion as exemplified in the work of redemption.
Seeing the fruit of Jesus' sorrows and agony would be ample
recompense for all that He had suffered. So rich would be the
results of His obedience unto death. Multitudes would be saved.
True religion would
spread across the whole world. This Gospel that declares that Jesus suffered, bled, died, and rose again would be preached in every nation. An immense host of overcomers would then die and enter into glory to ever be with the Lord - worshipping the Lamb slain from the foundation of the earth. Seeing this caused Yahweh to look upon this blessed sacrifice of His Beloved Son with great pleasure and satisfaction.
"By His knowledge shall My
righteous servant justify many" - By
becoming acquainted with Jesus - His suffering, death, and
resurrection - and His plan of salvation, we shall be justified.
He is referred to as the "Righteous Servant" - not only because of His own holiness, purity, and righteousness - but also because of the fact that He has the power to make others righteous as Himself.
As the songwriter
said - "He is all my Righteousness; I stand complete in Him, and
I worship Him."
He is the source of all Righteousness. Because He is perfectly
holy, He is able to secure the justification of all those who
entrust their souls to Him. What is the meaning of
"justify"?
It simply means to pronounce just or righteous. As one preacher
had said - "He declares me righteous - 'just-as-if-I'd' never
sinned."
"For He shall bear their
iniquities" - Sin cannot be transferred to
another. However, its consequences can be.
Romans 6:23 tells us that -
"The wages of sin is death."
Death is the consequence of every sin. Jesus, as our Blessed
Redeemer, tasted death for every man. He took the punishment for
our sins in our stead. He became our Substitute. Because He
endured the consequences of our sins, we then are able to enjoy
the consequence of His death on the cross which is life eternal
for all those who will believe.
Acts 13:39 says - "And by Him all that believe are justified from all things..."
2 Corinthians 5:21 says - "For
He hath made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we
might be made the righteousness of God in Him."
(Jesus did not actually become a sinner as some
preach. He became our sin-offering - Who knew no sin - that we
might be justified or made righteous.)
Hebrews 9:28 says - "So
Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many..."
Isaiah 53:8 says - "...for
the transgression of My people was He stricken."
Isaiah 53:5 says - "But
He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our
iniquities..."
Romans 5:19 adds - "...by
the obedience of One shall many be made righteous."
By His knowledge - the
knowledge that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again - we have
been justified or declared righteous. God saw our salvation and
service to the Lord Jesus Christ as a result of His suffering,
and He was pleased.
Acts 10:43 says - "To
Him give all the prophets witness..."
Why don't we join all the prophets and give
witness to the Lord Jesus as our own personal Redeemer?
Why not respond to this teaching by testifying to
someone this day as to what He has done for your soul?
Give God the praise.
He deserves our
worship, wouldn't you agree?
May God Bless His Word.
