Where Have You Placed Your Trust Today?
There is no help in man.
His efforts are simply worthless or vain.
The Lord is the one and only confidence of His people(Proverbs 3:26).
In fact, He is "the confidence of all the ends of the earth"(Psalm 65:5).
***************************************************************************************************************************
Psalm 146:3 outrightly directs - "Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help."
The Scriptures tell us that there are many things in which man places his trust.
He oftentimes depends on another man for help. The Word of God says that he makes "flesh his arm"(Jeremiah 17:5).
He trusts in "uncertain riches"(1 Timothy 6:17) and "the abundance of his riches"(Psalm 52:7).
In making decisions, he trusts in "his own heart"(Proverbs 28:26).
While living in sin, he places his trust in his own "wickedness" to cover up his sin(Isaiah 47:10).
He relies on the world system - "Egypt" - for help because they are "strong" and "many"(Isaiah 31:1).
Lastly, he trusts in "princes" or leaders for help, safety, deliverance, etc.(Psalm 146:3).
The Scriptures also explain that those who trust in -
...man - are "cursed" since their mind and heart turn aside from the Lord(Jeremiah 17:5)
...their riches - fall(Proverbs 11:28)
...their own hearts - are fools(Proverbs 28:26)
...their own wickedness - are perverted(Isaiah 47:10)
...the "shadow of Egypt"(the protection of the government) - the world system - reap confusion(Isaiah 30:3)
...princes or leaders - receive no lasting help, relief, safety, or deliverance(Psalm 146:3).
On the other hand, the Word of God does tell us where to place our trust.
Micah 7:7 says - "...I will look unto the LORD..."
Psalm 62:8 says - "Trust in Him at all times..."
Proverbs 3:5 says - "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart..."
When we trust in the Lord, the Bible says that -
...we are blessed(Psalm 40:4; Jeremiah 17:7)
...God fights our battles(2 Chronicles 32:8)
...He saves and delivers us from our persecutors(Psalm 7:1)
...We are not afraid of evil tidings when they come(Psalm 112:7)
...We live in safety(Proverbs 29:25)
...We are as Mount Zion - solid, sturdy, and immovable in our faith(Psalm 125:1).
The Bible admits that it is better to put our confidence in the Lord than in man or even princes(Psalm 118:8-9).
Psalm 60:11 explains why - "for vain is the help of man."
If we have not learned it yet, we will eventually come to the conclusion that man's help is generally ineffectual, to no purpose, empty, and worthless.
"...Safety is of the LORD"(Proverbs 21:31).
"...Salvation is of the LORD"(Jonah 2:9).
Victory comes "through our Lord Jesus Christ"(1 Corinthians 15:57).
Isaiah 2:22 admonishes us to - "Cease ye from man..."
Our opening Scripture commands - "Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help."
On the contrary, Hebrews 13:6 says - "So that we may boldly say, THE LORD IS MY HELPER, AND I WILL NOT FEAR WHAT MAN SHALL DO UNTO ME."
There is no help in man. His efforts are simply worthless or vain.
The Lord is the one and only confidence of His people(Proverbs 3:26).
In fact, He is the "confidence of all the ends of the earth"(Psalm 65:5).
Do you honestly believe that?
Then prove it by turning completely from the "arm of flesh" and totally trusting in the Lord Jesus today.
May God Bless His Word.
