Your Answer Is
To Wait Upon The Lord

"It is our wisdom and duty, in times of danger and difficulty, to wait upon God; for He is our defense, our high place, in Whom we shall be safe." - Matthew Henry

Do you find yourself in distress...at a time of danger or difficulty...when you seem to be sinking down in despair...are overwhelmed by the feelings to give up...when all resources seem to have failed...?

Then do as David commanded in Psalm 27:14 - "Wait on the LORD..."
Go to Him in your time of trouble and hardship.

Are you overwhelmed with feelings of worry and anxiety and simply don't know what to do?

Then do as David admonished in Psalm 37:7 - "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him: fret not thyself..."
Be silent, still, mute, or dumb before the Lord. Don't find fault with your Maker. Rest assured that He does all things well and will do so for you. Leave the matter with Him and watch Him work it out for you.

Does it seem as though your prayers are not being answered at once...or won't be answered...that there is no prospect in sight for respite from the violent storm that rages about you?
Do you find yourself making repeated prayers about the same issue or matter?

Then wait upon the Lord!
David said in Psalm 40:1 - "I waited patiently for the LORD..."

Are you being tempted in the way of duty to use another course?
Do you feel as though your spirit is ruffled and disturbed and cannot seem to find a calmness or quietness?

Then do as David resolved in Psalm 52:9 - "...and I will wait on Thy name: for it is good before the saints."
Trust, confide, hope, and totally depend on Jesus. Await His intervention - no matter how long it may be delayed.

At the moment, are you seemingly overwhelmed by the crushing power or "strength" of your enemy?
Are you finding that his
"strength" is beyond your power to resist?

Then do as David did when he was being chased down by King Saul - his vicious enemy - "Because of his strength will I wait upon Thee..."(Psalm 59:9)
Allow the warfare - that you are engaging - to drive you closer to the Lord. Fix your eyes upon Him and depend upon His strength to see you through this time of danger and difficulty.

Have you taken inventory of all of your resources or your means of reliance and found them to miserably fall short for the situations at hand?

Then read - in Psalm 62:1 - how David reacted when faced with similar circumstances - "TRULY my soul waiteth upon God..."
Allow your trials to reflect your true feelings toward the Lord...is He your one and only source of strength and reliance...or are you still leaning on the arm of the flesh to see you through?

Does it seem as though all of your plans are frustrated and all of your efforts have been in vain...your strength has failed and friends or family have abandoned you?

Then commit your whole cause to God, resign yourself into His capable hands, and do as David did in Psalm 62:5 - "My soul, wait thou only upon God..."

Have you been preaching to a people who seemingly are bent on going their own way?
Do you feel as though...your words have fallen on deaf ears...all your efforts to turn them around have been in vain?
Have all your warnings of judgment to come been ridiculed and scorned by those who are
"at ease in Zion"?

The Prophet Isaiah faced similar conditions.
However, In Isaiah 8:17, we find his response - "And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth His face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for Him."

Do you feel as though your faith has grown weak...you are not able to...contend with your spiritual foes...gain the victory over besetting sins or habits...perform your duties without fainting...bear your trials without complaining?

The Prophet Isaiah offers your one and only solution in Isaiah 40:31 - "But they that wait upon the LORD..."

Are you sitting in darkness...feeling desolate, melancholic, perplexed, discouraged, and depressed...not knowing what to do nor which way to go for relief?
Does it seem that...you are surrounded by those who have forsaken, failed, and betrayed you... the love of many has waxed cold...men love and desire to please themselves rather than love and please God?

The Prophet Micah faced similar happenings and responded with this remedy in Micah 7:7 - "Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation..."

Do you feel as though you and your church are spiritually dead?
Does it seem as though there is no life or anointing present?
Does every service feel as though it is predictable - planned out by man rather than by God?

What you need to do is what the believers did in the Book of Acts - "...wait for the promise of the Father..." (Acts 1:4) The Father has promised to pour out His Spirit upon all who ask. The Holy Spirit will come and take control...bring life and vitality to all...bring great times of spiritual refreshing...cause one and all to fall in love with Jesus all over again...convict and cleanse of sin...remove the workings of man and the flesh...bring great excitement to the people and vitality to every service.

We can easily see from the Scriptures that it is good to wait upon the Lord.
Great results come to those who seek Him in prayer and patiently wait for His mighty intervention.

In Lamentations 3:25, the Prophet Jeremiah said - "The LORD is good unto them that wait for Him, to the soul that seeketh Him."

To all those who "wait upon the Lord"  - they reap the following results:

a. They are strong...their spirits are kept up...they are enabled to perform their duties and triumph over their enemies - "Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD" (Psalm 27:14).

b. As a result of their persevering prayer, God turns Himself favorably toward them - "I WAITED patiently for the LORD; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry" (Psalm 40:1).

c. God becomes their high place or refuge from the enemy where they can safely hide - "Because of his strength will I wait upon Thee: for God is my defence"(Psalm 59:9).

d. The absence of worry or apprehension...calmness and peace of mind...quietness...silence of soul...as well as the feelings of safety and security come to those who place their entire confidence in God's power, goodness, wisdom, and mercy - "TRULY my soul waiteth upon God: from Him cometh my salvation"(Psalm 62:1).

e. They have a hope-filled future - "My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him"(Psalm 62:5).

f. They increase, are revived and vigorous, flourish once again, become strong in faith, stand victorious over their enemies, walk in a greater anointing and authority, withstand their trials and difficulties without complaining, fainting, or exhaustion - "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint"(Isaiah 40:31).

e.  Their needs are met, their problems are solved, and their way is made plain and clear - "Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me"  (Micah 7:7).

f. They are empowered to overcome all of their enemies - the world, the flesh, and the devil  - "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you..."(Acts 1:8).

As Pastor Henry said at the start of this message, it is our "wisdom" and "duty" to "wait upon God." In other words, it is the wisest and expected thing for all believers to quietly and perseveringly wait for Him to intervene on their behalf.

So many have encountered countless troubles and are reaping horrible consequences today because they became hasty and took matters into their own hands.

The Holy Spirit is saying to you this day - "Wait..."
Don't allow the enemy of your soul to cause you to grow weary or anxious.

God has everything under control.
He knows what He is doing.
Psalm 46:10
says - "Be still, and know that I am God..."

In due time, He will come.
Know this - He is a God of timing.
He is never late or too early - but always on time!
His timing is perfect!

Admit that you cannot change the matters at hand - only He can!

Wait for His mighty intervention.
You'll be so glad that you did!

May God Bless His Word.
