Don't Hold Back Any Longer!
Speak For God!
In Acts 1:8, the Lord Jesus gave each and every one of us an
assignment when He said - "...Ye shall be
witnesses unto Me..." He didn't make any exceptions based
on personality traits either.
We have been appointed to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth -
to testify of its Truths - regardless of the consequences.
The question is - Will we do it?
Hebrews 2:12 records the Master's words -
"Saying, I WILL DECLARE THY NAME UNTO MY
BRETHREN, IN THE MIDST OF THE CHURCH WILL I SING PRAISE UNTO THEE."
The Lord Jesus would have a church, consisting of followers who
placed their faith and trust in God.
Part of His work as the Messiah included
"declaring His Father's name unto His brethren" -
acquainting them with His nature, attributes, mind, will, character,
and perfections - so that they, in turn, would spread this knowledge
of God throughout the world from one generation to another.
Just as He taught us, we must teach others.
He spoke to us so that we would have something to say unto others.
He acquainted us with the Father so that we would acquaint others.
He was our example. He did not keep silent. Neither should we!
We cannot be quiet! We must
not! The world's salvation depends on it!
Throughout the Scriptures, we are given the command to speak for
the Lord -
1 Chronicles 16:9 - "Sing unto
Him, sing psalms unto Him, talk ye of all His wondrous
works."
Psalm 9:11 - "Sing
praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among
the people His doings."
Psalm 26:7 - "That I may
publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all Thy
wondrous works."
Psalm 119:172 - "My tongue shall
speak of Thy word..."
Psalm 145:12 - "To
make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious
majesty of His kingdom."
Isaiah 12:4 - "And in
that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon His
name, declare His doings among the people, make mention
that His name is exalted."
Jeremiah 51:10 - "The
LORD hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us
declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God."
"...talk..."
"declare..."
"...tell..."
"...speak..."
"...make known..."
"...Praise...call...make mention..."
Are you getting the point?
It is our duty as Christians to tell others about
God's "wondrous works," "doings,"
and "mighty acts" - how
we experienced His pardoning mercy and forgiving grace - so that
they would be inspired to place their total trust in Jesus for
salvation and have reason to Praise Him as well.
It is also our duty to instruct and edify others with our knowledge
of the Scriptures so that they would become acquainted with and
ruled by them. God feeds us daily with His "heavenly Manna"
so that we would then feed others -
"Give ye them to eat"(Matthew 14:16).
We are to give public, vocal acknowledgement of the many wonders and
works of our God - proclaim in His name, preach about Him, speak to
others concerning Him, instruct others, and cause them to remember
or never forget the work of redemption that we have experienced.
God is a vindicator of all those who are unjustly treated. Others
need to hear that so that they would call upon Him in their time of
trouble.
Mark 4:21 - "And He said unto
them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed?
and not to be set on a candlestick?"
Luke 8:16 - "No man, when
he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it
under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter
in may see the light."
2 Timothy 1:8 - "Be not
thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord..."
We are never to shrink back or
"be...ashamed..." of bearing our testimony unto
others. To do so would be likened unto placing our
"candle" under a
"bushel" or
"bed." We are called - not to obscure the Truth - but
to proclaim it. We have been given different graces and gifts so
that we would enlighten others -
"Holding forth the word of life"(Philippians 2:16).
Matthew 10:32 - "Whosoever
therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also
before My Father which is in heaven."
Romans 10:9 - "That if
thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus..."
1 Peter 3:15 - "But
sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an
answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in
you..."
Salvation begins with the acknowledging - with our own mouths
- that Jesus Christ is the only Savior and Lord of our lives. In the
face of all of the allurements of the world, we openly and publicly
"confess" our attachment
to, dependence on, and total agreement with Him and His various
doctrines or teachings.
At all times and in every place we are
"ready always to give an answer." In other words, we
are able - with good and substantial reasons - to defend our faith
against all opposers with strong arguments. We can prove that we are
not actuated by feelings or foolishness. We have - and are able to
expound - the evidence that God's Word is true and worthy to be
embraced by all.
Mark 5:19 - "Howbeit Jesus
suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and
tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had
compassion on thee."
After being delivered from a legion of devils, the Gadarene demoniac
wanted to physically follow Jesus wherever He went. The Lord had
other plans. He instructed him to - "Go
home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath
done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee."
So many are like this man in that they want to follow Jesus closely
in prayer and praise, but they do not want to work for Him -
"...Go out into the highways and hedges,
and compel them to come in, that My house may be filled."(Luke
14:23). They would rather stay in the Bridal Chamber with Him
and act "real spiritual."
But God - in a sense - is kicking these "loafers" out
of the Throne Room and setting their gaze once again on
"...the fields; for they are white already
to harvest"(John 4:35).
There is work to be done.
There is a world that is lost and falling - at breakneck speed -
into Hell while the Church - for the most part - is desiring to
hide out in the Bridal Chamber with Jesus.
This is not right! It's certainly not God's
will and way!
It's time like never before to speak for God!
It's time to "confess"
Jesus "before men" and
"give an answer to every man"
for the "hope" that is in
us.
God will not accept any more excuses.
We have been told what to do.
Now it's a matter of doing it.
Will we obey?
May God Bless His Word.
