On this day, 25 years ago, my husband Carl and I got married. As we reflect on all the various and sundry circumstances and experiences which the Lord Jesus has brought us through, we cannot help but give Praise and Honor to Him for His Mighty Grace and Power. Through the Good Times as well as the Bad, He has been Forever Faithful.

Concerning marriage, Martin Luther, the Great Reformist, once said -
"There is no estate to which Satan is more opposed as to marriage."

We would all have to agree that never before, in the history of mankind, has the institution of marriage been under such severe attack from the enemy of righteousness.

Resultantly, our prayer is that we, as a Christian couple, will be that "powerful weapon in the hand of Jesus" that John Benton mentioned above.

Our prayer for our marriage and for all marriages is that - to this wicked and adulterous generation in which we live - we will make a statement which boldly declares that the union of one man and one woman can and does work and will continue to work with the Bible as our Rule Book and the Holy Spirit as our couch.

With the mad rush for the "sodomite marriages" to become an acceptable institution, we can grievously see how our nation has veered so far from "the law of Christ" and how its "moral tone" has fallen so low.

What can we do as Christians?

We can determine like never before to yield our marriages to Jesus so that we, as couples, will become those "powerful weapons" in His hands.

We can uphold the teachings of the Holy Scriptures in our hearts and homes - not veering to the right or the left - but following its principles without one ounce of compromise.

We can pray with fervent spirits that God will use our blessed unions to make a difference in our world.

As a young Christian, aspiring to marry some day, or even as a young couple, embarking on life's journey together - you may wonder what is the key ingredient to a lasting marriage relationship.

The answer can be found in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 - "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."

Take away the "fear of God" -
the awful sense of accountability before a Holy God for one's thoughts, words,
and actions -
and the marriage relationship will never last!

Oh! That the Holy Spirit would use our marriages as "powerful weapons in the hands of Jesus" today.
May we, as Christian couples, determine to live according to the Holy Standards of the Bible, and turn the tide of ungodliness in our nation.

May God be so glorified in our happy and lasting - one husband for one wife - relationships.
