Who Would Dare
To Impose On God?
"There is nothing that can be
concealed from God."
"A man who is to be tried by
one 'who knows all about him,' should be a pure and holy man." -
Barnes' Notes
"The workers of iniquity may
find ways and means to hide themselves from man, but not from God. He
knows their works, both what they do and what they design." -
Matthew Henry
It happens every day.
There isn't a day or an hour when man is not trying to hide something
from God.
You gasp in utter amazement and say - "What Utter
deception!"
Yet, many are involved in such gross Self-Deception, thinking that they
can find a place where they could hide from God or commit some sin that
even He cannot see.
The sad thing about it is that many "Christians"
have swallowed this lie from the devil. Somehow, they think that they
can pass off their hypocrisy for sincerity. For a time, they may get
away with it before men, but they can never
hide what or who they really are from
God.
Impose! There are several shades of
meaning for this word - some of which are - to delude, take advantage
of, palm off(impose by fraud), foist on(pass off as genuine or worthy).
Hence, we get the word imposter,
meaning - faker, pretender, fraud, masquerader, deceiver, imitator,
wolf in sheep's clothing, phony, con man, and charlatan.
Who could possibly delude or take
advantage of God? What utter foolhardiness to even try!
Yet, it happens all the time in the
world and even in the Church.
Only those who are totally ignorant of
the Word of God would even attempt such a thing!
Hebrews 4:13 tells us -
"Neither is there any creature that is not
manifest in His sight..."
All of creation is constantly exposed to God's view. Every being is
known by Him. He marks their every thought, feeling, plan, and desire.
The same Scripture goes on to say -
"...but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with Whom
we have to do."
"...all things..."
Notice that the Scripture did not say - "some things."
It said - "...all things..."
Does that include "the secrets of men"(Romans
2:16) - the hidden desires, fantasies, lusts, passions,
motives, or thoughts - which are concealed from the sight of man?
Yes, "...all things..."
certainly include those deep and
"secret" things which are hidden from man but very
obvious to God.
"...all things are naked and opened
unto the eyes of Him..." - They are bare, exposed,
and uncovered. The picture drawn for the word
"opened" is that of an animal
- about to be slaughtered for sacrifice - whose neck is bent back so as
to expose its throat for cutting. The idea is that every possible
covering is removed so as to make something bare or exposed entirely.
"...naked and opened..."
"...naked and opened..."
"...naked and opened..."
To Whom? In Whose sight?
To the only One Who counts -
the Lord Jesus Christ!
"...all things are naked and opened
unto the eyes of Him..."
Oh! That these words would be forever burned into the hearts of
every man, woman, boy, and girl - in the world and especially in the
Church!
Oh! That mankind would realize that they cannot hide anything
from God.
He sees it all!
Job 34:22 verifies this truth by saying -
"There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where
the workers of iniquity may hide themselves."
There is no dark cavern or obscure place that is so thick, solitary,
remote from light or sight where the guilty may hide from the all-seeing
eye of the Lord. They may successfully conceal themselves from the view
of man for a time, but they can
never hide from God.
Oh! That every Preacher - called by God - would step out of the Church
House and fill every Street Corner, lift up his voice, and begin to
proclaim to all this vital spiritual Truth that - NO MAN
CAN EVER HIDE ANYTHING FROM GOD!
Job 34:21 attests -
"For His eyes are upon the ways of man, and He seeth all His goings."
If this be true - which it most certainly is
- then even the most subtle cannot escape His eye. All of man's actions
are regarded and recorded by the
"eyes" of the Lord.
Hebrews 4:13 says -
"...all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him..."
Job 34:21 adds - "For
His eyes are upon the ways of man, and He seeth all His goings."
"...all things..."
"...the ways of man..."
"...all His goings."
"...are naked and opened unto
the eyes of Him..."
"For His eyes are upon..."
"...He seeth all..."
These "eyes" of
the Lord are so powerful that they even penetrate through Hell,
destruction, and death.
Job 26:6 tells us -
"Hell is naked before Him, and destruction hath no covering."
Job 38:17 inquires -
"Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the
doors of the shadow of death?"
Man can't see that which is beyond the grave - either the place where
departed spirits abide or the place where destruction reigns. God sees
it all and knows its happenings. It is
"naked before Him."
Death is a great secret to man. Most can attest to the fact that they
have never opened up the "gates of
death" or passed through the
"doors of the shadow of death." They're
concealed from his view. Yet, they are constantly before God. His
"eyes" penetrate
into these dark and gloomy areas.
Knowing this, we must ask
ourselves some straightforward questions -
Who would dare to impose on God?
Who would be so presumptuous as
to play the hypocrite before Him Whom Hell itself cannot escape His
sight?
Who would venture to think that he
could sin and hide it from this all-seeing One?
What about you, O Reader?
Have you been deceived by the enemy of your soul into
believing that you can hide sin from God's sight?
Are you trying to live two kinds of lives? Around the
Church folk, do you act holy and sanctified, but around the world, you
are wicked and ungodly?
Behind closed doors, who are you? Who is the person that
God sees when no one else is around?
How long do you think that you can get away with your
deception?
Don't let the devil lie to you another
minute.
There is no
"hiding place" besides Jesus.
Stop running from God.
Let this be your Day of Reckoning.
Repent and come clean before the
only Savior - the Lord Jesus Christ - the One Who has the power to
change you.
Realize this - You're not getting away
with anything.
Contrary to what man or the devil would like
for you to believe - The Lord Jesus sees it all.
May God Bless His Word.
