IT ONLY TAKES ONE

"One sinner" is capable of killing, blotting out, and doing away with any Good Thing or the benefit, welfare, prosperity, happiness, and moral good of others.
"One sinner" is capable of causing others to stray and lose out with God.
A very important question to ask yourself is this - Am I that "one sinner" who is destroying "much good"?

Ecclesiastes 9:18 says - "...one sinner destroyeth much good."

There is a very familiar adage which says - "One rotten apple spoils a barrelful." The Biblical version of this saying is - "One sinner destroyeth much good."

Notice that the Scripture does not say many sinners. It doesn't mention the gang in the neighborhood, the rowdy youth group in the Church, the snobbish clique on the job, or the backbiting choir in the Church. Although these types or groups of people are capable of causing much harm, yet the Scripture narrows the problem down to "one."

"One sinner" in a marriage destroys much good.
"One sinner" in the family destroys much good.
"One sinner" in a friendship destroys much good.
"One sinner" in the Church, the home meeting, a ministry, the corporation, the business, the neighborhood, etc. destroys much good.

"One sinner" period.

The question to personally ask yourself then is - Who is this "one sinner"?
Does anyone in particular come to mind when you think of such an individual?
Are you that "one"?

1 Corinthians 5:6 and Galatians 5:9 confirm this same concept of something small in number or stature greatly affecting the larger amount or thing.

1 Corinthians 5:6 says - "...Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?"

Galatians 5:9 adds - "A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump."

Leaven in the Bible is yeast. It only takes one small package of yeast added to six cups of flour and two tablespoons of sugar to affect the dough and cause it to rise.

What does the Bible say that "one sinner" does?
He"destroyeth."

That word "destroyeth" means to kill, blot out, do away with, cause to stray, and lose.

What is it that "one sinner destroyeth"?
Ecclesiastes 9:18 answers with - "much good."

"One sinner" is capable of killing, blotting out, and doing away with any Good Thing or the benefit, welfare, prosperity, happiness, and moral good of others.
"One sinner" is capable of causing others to stray and lose out with God.

A very important question you must ask yourself is this - Am I that "one sinner" who is destroying "much good"?

Am I responsible for -
...killing my relationships with my insatiable desire to have the preeminence in every conversation and activity?
...destroying the work of the Lord with my envious and jealous disposition?
...discouraging others and doing away with any hope that they may have had through my critical and condemning words?
...causing another person to stray from the strait and narrow path by my ungodly example and lifestyle of compromise and worldliness?
...causing others to lose out with God because of my hypocrisy?

It only takes one liar to destroy a friendship.
It only takes one adulterer to destroy a marriage.
It only takes one thief to destroy a business.
It only takes one slanderer to destroy a ministry.
It only takes one person sowing discord to destroy a Church.

Ecclesiastes 9:18 says - "...One sinner destroyeth much good."

God forbid that we be that "one"!

We leave you with this admonition from God's Word - "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are His. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity"(2 Timothy 2:19).

May God Bless His Word.
