THE SLEEPING GIANT
(And The Rude Awakening)

"Wherefore He saith, AWAKE THOU THAT
SLEEPEST, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee
light."---Ephesians 5:14
A few months ago I was given a Vision, from
God, at a very unexpected time and place.
I was sitting, in my car, at a red light, in the small town that I live in
( actually a suburb of Dallas, Texas ) when I looked to my right, and in
the middle of the street, all of a sudden, appeared a GIANT of a man. This
GIANT was not standing, but rather laying flat on his back, in the middle
of the street. He was such a GIANT that his body stretched out, on the
ground, for an entire two city blocks. Two things were plain to see----
#1--The GIANT was SOUND ASLEEP.
#2--WHILE THE GIANT SLEPT somebody had come and tied him down and
fastened him fast to the ground. I mean there were thousands of cords of
thick twined rope tied all around his body and from every limb and part of
his body were these thousands of thick cords of rope and they were nailed
into the ground with strong spikes. His head, neck, arms, legs, were all
tied fast to the ground, so as to keep him in bondage if and when he ever
woke up.
Now, this Vision took place in the flash of an eye. I looked, I saw, it
was gone, the light turned green and I slowly drove away, thinking to
myself---"WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS THAT ?!"
Then from within, the "still small voice" of the Lord said to me---
"The SLEEPING GIANT is My Church, in
America, and while he slept, an enemy (Satan) has come and fastened him to
the ground with thousands of cords of bondages. BUT, I am about to WAKE
THE GIANT UP."
Then tears filled my eyes, as I could feel and
sense the GREAT LOVE and CONCERN that JESUS has for His SLEEPING GIANT in
America.
The last few days, I have been impressed of the Lord, to write this vision
down and send it out, but I kept hesitating until Thursday night(July 3rd,
2003, two days ago ) when I turned on the TV and heard an African
Pastor/Evangelist from Uganda, being interviewed by an American Pastor.
The American Pastor said---
"For generations the American Church has sent
out missionaries to Africa, and all over the world; but NOW, you are
coming from Africa, and all over the world, as missionaries to us."
The African missionary to America smiled and
answered----
"Yes, we are here mainly to preach in the
churches and to WAKE UP THIS SLEEPING GIANT in America."
Now, I would hope and pray that these African
brethren, and others, could, by God's Power, WAKE UP THE SLEEPING GIANT.
But, when God told me that He was about to WAKE UP THE GIANT, I first had
a feeling of joy and elation, followed by a terrible foreboding as I
wondered just what it would take to WAKE UP AND SET FREE THE SLEEPING
GIANT.
MANY disasters have befallen America, and the American Church; yet THE
GIANT SLEEPS ON. There have been STRONG VOICES OF AWAKENING through
pastors, evangelists, books, articles, and just about every other means
possible, crying out an alarm; and yet THE GIANT SLEEPS ON .
Then it was, as I sat down to write this morning, that I thought of Dr.
Michael Brown's book, titled,---- " The Rude Awakening--HOW SAVED
ARE WE ?
Has the Church fallen asleep in the enemy's
lap ? " Chapter 15 of this book is titled--"The Rude Awakening" and
from it, I now quote page 113-------
"Two hundred and fifty years ago a tremendous
revival swept our land. Church attendance increased radically, while
immorality and drunkenness decreased dramatically. Many thousands of
believers came alive and multitudes of unsaved were truly born again. At
this time George Whitefield ( the mighty British Evangelist, of the 18th
century, sent by God to Wake Up America ) said, ' I love those that
thunder out the Word ! The Christian world is in a deep sleep. Nothing but
a loud voice can waken them out of it ! ' This was the Great Awakening."
"But today the Church of America does not
need a Great Awakening.
We need a Rude Awakening. A spirit of slumber is over the Body and we are
under a great deception. We think we are in a last days revival, but we
are really in a fight for survival.
We think we are ready to take the whole world, but it is the world that
has taken us.
"It is now or never for the people of God. Either we dream on or we face
the facts. But one way or another, we will be aroused from our stupor---by
an internal stirring or by an external shaking;
by inward perseverance or by outward persecution; by judging ourselves or
by being judged.
Either way, our peaceful sleep is about to come to an abrupt end."
